I Bought WP Affiliate Guide

January 4th, 2008 · 18 Comments

I guess it has been a couple of years ago when I purchased an ebook called Optiniche. It had very useful things to add to your Wordpress blogs to make them more SEO friendly. Teli Adlam wrote the book. I was alerted to the ebook by a friend and luckily bought if for like $27 or something. It soon rose to $97…or something. It was an excellent read.

Teli came out with another product called WordPress Datafeed Import Script. I bought it. I’ve built tons of datafeed sites using this script. I’ve made some reasonable bones from people surfing my blogging and clicking out to check out the product I was pimping. Nothing sexy. Just product and clicks.

Teli has now come out with another ebook called the WP Affiliate Guide. I just bought it. And I can tell you right now that it’s a good purchase. If you want to know how to create an affiliate blog, this is the package to get. She covers everything from permalinks to how to add the code for your autoresponder to how to use the plugins she recommends.

At first glance you’re going to go, “damn man, this is for newbies”. Well it is and it isn’t. Just keep reading. You’ll learn some stuff that you had no idea how to do on your blog. And she has videos and a forum. All this for…well, that’s the catch. I got my copy because I am an Optiniche customer. It was dirt effing cheap. I’m afraid if I gave you that purchase link Teli might come cut off my fingers or some shit. Maybe it’s a special customer-only link. She doesn’t say. SO, if she wants to give out the link on Lost Ball that’s cool. If not, I can understand why. Because the price is way too cheap for what she’s selling today. It appears that she is normally selling it for $35 (Ok- $34.95) when she gets everything ready. That is a great deal as well. I wouldn’t expect her to keep the price that low. Unlike other marketers, when she says she’s raising the price, believe me when I say it, she’s going to raise the price.

Let me just say this about Teli’s ebooks. You know how you purchase some Crapbank ebook and read through it wondering what was the last English grade the writer actually completed? Well Teli’s writing and ebook layout are the most professional of any that I have ever purchased. If nothing else; you should buy the WPAG to see how a quality ebook should be written.

I give the guberus a lot of crap on this blog for pumping over-hyped junk. WPAG is not junk and there is no hype. The price is reasonable and the product has value. This is how it should be done.

Kind of funny to be this excited about a WP product after proclaiming how sick I was of them, eh? And so it goes.

    Hi Splork,

I don’t usually buy these things, but this seems to fit what I’m doing and your recommendation is the thing that made me decide to do it. However, if you have an “in” with Teli, tell her that the download link (which I assume links to the purchase page) doesn’t work. I left a message on her site, too, with a note that I got the recommendation from you. Maybe she’ll give you a retroactive commish when she gets it set up. Hope so. Or should I wait a day or two for her to get the affiliate thingy set up so you can get paid? Your call.

I want the product but I want you to get paid.

Hey Barry. Don’t worry about the commish. I appreciate it a lot but it’s not necessary. Teli hasn’t gone live with the product yet. She’s waiting on getting the videos squared away. I’d check back every couple of days if you’re still interested in the product. She won’t raise the price immediately.

Basically I think Teli is good people. She makes quality products and supports them well. She knows what she’s doing and is worth listening to.

All I can say is WOW. Thank you so much for the wonderful comments Splork — you’ve brightened up my (cloudy and rainy) Saturday morning.

Barry, since you’re one of Splork’s readers and obviously a very loyal one, I went ahead and sent you the special link. :)

Splork, e-mail me. I will be setting up a special list of JVs for the pre-launch and would love to have you on it — that way, you would be able to make a commish from your recommendation.

Thanks for the heads up, Splork! I was really impressed by Teli’s Wordpress Datafeed Import script some time ago but never bought it because I went in another direction. However, her new WP Affiliate Guide seems right up my current alley, so I’ll be buying as soon as it’s released. Post it or email me but please LET ME KNOW!! Thanks!!

Splork - somewhere I recollect you mentioning you have Rapid Niche Websites but don’t much like the software. I tried it for a while but found it helluva frustrating so dropped it and switched a couple of sites back to standard HTML.

But I can understand how using WP as a CMS has big advantages, so just wondering if one can compare Teli’s way of doing things with RNW? Also, do you know if one can use product feeds with WP?

I’m tempted to buy the course on your recommendation and the price is fair - just concerned that I won’t know how best to put it to use and end up doing nothing. Do you have any suggestions - is it best to use with PLR articles, product reviews, videos?

    Thanks,

    Scotch

Scotch I’ll be using the product for building out PLR niche sites and maybe review type sites. I can almost guarantee that what she is suggesting is way more user friendly and easy than RNW. But they are really two different things. RNW builds WP sites for you. WPAG shows you how to use a standard WP site to its fullest potential, with plug-in utlization, for building out affiliate sites. RNW won’t really teach you how to be successful with affiliate sites. WPAG will show you how to set up your WP blog for affiliate sales success. I’ve gone back to almost fully using XSP but her suggestions are enough to reconsider, at least partially, the use of WP again.

Oh, shoot! I went to the sales page, but the notification opt-in doesn’t work! I also left a message on her site, so hopefully she’ll get that.

I prefer WP to XSitePro now. I too, had Rapid Niche Websites, but gave up in frustration.

Of course, I guess could wait until you do another post with your special JV link, couldn’t I? ;)

Thought I’d pop in again and say hello. :)

GiGi, I’m terribly sorry about the notification list. It appears Aweber was doing some site maintenance when you were trying to sign up — all should be well again.

Also, I want to tell everyone to keep an eye on Splork’s blog as he may (and I stress may b/c this is his blog) be announcing something in the near future.

Pretty cool Splork, you rank #1 for WP Affiliate Guide, even over Teli’s site.

    FYI Teli.
I signed up based on Splork’s recommendation.

You guys are going to kick my ass if you don’t like the ebook aren’t ya?

  • Vee // Jan 19, 2008 at 5:42 am

    Hi Guys
First time on this blog - found you because I was looking for a review of Traffic Manifesto. On your advice I rummaged around and found Jack’s ABB report and ended up getting Teli’s WPAG waiting for download link as I write. So yes - Splork - expect a boot if I’m grumpy about this change of direction. I’m interested to see the difference between Teli’s approach to that of the WordpressAdsenseSystem.
Also have RNW - never figured it out so don’t use it. XSP ok but everytime I add or edit a page I have to wait for the entire site to upload again. So WP still preferred system - until I want to change webhosts ……
My WPAG download link has arrived so I’m outa here. Maybe I’ll come back and play later. Incidentally - I’m still looking for traffic ideas so if you have any suggestions I’d be smiley face.
    Cheers

    Splork,

Personally I am waiting on the official release or until you get an affiliate link out. You can either email me or publicly post it and I’ll find it. Even though you may not care about the commission, I insist on it going to you and will stick it out until you can get it.

I been waiting on a product like this for awhile now to simplify some of the datafeeding and mashups I have been putting online.

  • Splork // Jan 20, 2008 at 4:21 pm

Hey Ruck. Thanks for that. The link is top right, right below the banner. I hope you like it. I think you can still get it for $18.

For some WP blogs I have going on I’ve been using her datafeed script and this ebook as a guide to set everything up. I post the relevant feeds from Shareasale and make article posts. Nice mashup.

For Blogger blogs, and yes I still use them, I’ve been using RSS2B4 and Affiliate Feed Generator to create some mashups with some old PLR content I have laying around.

    Hi Splork-

I use semiologic to create all my WP blogs and it is great. I am pretty good with the setup of WP blogs I would like to improve the sales. Will Teli’s book help me if I am already using the semiologic platform?

    Thanks,
    Jana

    Thanks,
    Jana

  • Splork // Jan 23, 2008 at 3:54 pm

Hey Jana. I think so. Semiologic is just a skin for WP. WPAG should give you a few usable nuggets for anything WP related. I’d be surprised if you couldn’t find something in the book to justify the $18.

Thanks man. I’m glad I could help. Make sure you check out the links on my blog and see what dudes like Griz, Frank, Ruck and Court are doing. Don’t miss those either. They do a great job of explaining how to get the most out of making money online without spending a lot of money. I was right where you are (were) not too long ago.
