Marc said "Even with mentoring, I mean REAL mentoring, the kind we provide, none of this make money yesterday bs, it takes minimum of 12 months just to think you have the hang of it.

It will then take you 12 months more of doing to really discover you only just started.

Most importantly stop giving people your money if you have not at least actioned something other then reading."

Marc, this is so true. I am desperately working towards helping people change their thinking towards an online business.

I surveyed over 1400 people over the last 12 months and most of them had at least 2 years of experience and there were some glaring and obvious things going on that have led me to move in a particular direction.

Folks, this is a business, if you treat it like one. That requires a completely different set of skills to aquire.

Not only do you have to learn how to RUN a business, but you also have alot of skills to learn. It would be best if you are new to online marketing, to spend a year mastering the basics of running a business and also in that year spend alot of time on self development as well.

There is no question that you can develop a very nice income from home, but it comes with a price and lots of determination.

I was watching mission impossible 2 late last night and have an interesting post that you may enjoy about this subject matter.

I have been struggling with online and affiliate marketing for probably 4/5 years now and finally feel that I have cracked it.

Like you all, spent a fortune, bought the crap and latest next best thing. God have I fallen for some launch hype!

Last year I started building my business working in a technology niche that was my passion after attending a seminar that really helped me cut away the dross in my mind.

Scott Boulch the 'nada guru' he said stay away from the IM stuff and look to sell real products to real people. It was a revelation.

We now have a blog/site that startyed with 23 uniques in January and last month had 15,000 uniques with 156,000 page views.

I have worked 14/15 hour days, Saturday/Sunday, and even whilst my wife and I have taken holidays!

The site now earns $150 commission some days, $400 the next, and our highest day (August) was just over $1300!

I now know that over the next two to three years I can increase traffic exponentially, and use the profit to plough back in and start other blogs far faster using the experience we have gained.

Stick with it, it works when you focus and put some real effort in.

Oh and follow Marc, he knows what he is talking about.

What Marc says is true for me. It has taken me more than 2 years and several thousand dollars in self-instruct mostly, and at this point I feel like just beginning, just getting the hang of it, but now with much less effort and money to invest.

Is just like things are more clear and I can start making real progress having gone through so much information.

My own experience tells me to stick to one or two mentors only, otherwise you probably get confused among so many options. It's overwhelming. I gave my attention to lots of gurus and not gurus, and ended up with no direction, no straight line.

That's my 2 cents worth advice for those who'd like to take it, anyway!

A good post- I am a fan of Marc as I like his attitude to business online. Comparing of Offline is a good idea (after all its the just medium thats different)

People coming from a job, expect to be able to "turn on the money" - it doesn't work like that.

The secret is..... work -focused work and a long term mindset.... with a focus on bringing more traffic to the sites you have.

if it does take a year or 2 of hard work- is it worth it? absolutely- no excuses...just do it

I spent the first 5 years online in scams and hyip programs, losing $16,000 all up. I then decided to do it the hard way by making websites.

I spent at least another $16,000 on site builders and other shyte from Internet Marketing guru's, but I did get up to about $1,000 a month from Adsense, Clickbank, PayPal etc... however I was spending that much by then on article writers, PLR material etc.

The point is that as fast (or slow) as I was making it I was pooring the income back into my business to further grow it... something I learned from running a regular offline business.

Through my online businesses, I was able to retire from regular toil 18 months ago. The key was doing the work and reinvesting the returns in future growth.

I don't know if you read her blog or not, but Jennifer's this-affiliate-marketing-path.com has been a great journal of someone else struggling for years with internet marketing. Most of the time she reports her monthly income it's around the $400 mark, and this is coming from quite a large number of sites.

However...

Recently she seems to finally been having some success, hitting $2600 or so in July. Seems like one of the factors that finally did it is taking what little money she makes, and folding it back into her websites for more articles, more promotion, etc. It's gotten pretty inspiring recently.

I see a snowball, growing exponentially.

Anyway, why not try that? Take your $30 a day, and spend it on a GOOD writer to write you one article a day for a large site or two. See where you're at in a year.
