I Like Wordpress Affiliate Pro

September 5th, 2007 · 6 Comments

I have such a love-hate relationship with Adsense. I’m glad that I can monetize at least something when a person clicks out of my site. But really I could probably do just as well by going to the mall and finding loose change on the floor.

So now I’ve really been working affiliate programs. As a member of PLRPro I’ve been able to utilize a jewel of a program called Wordpress Affiliate Pro. If you are a member of PLRPro you’ll have heard about the deal. If you are not then you can simply buy it from the website.

Anyway, since using this plug-in with my WP blogs I’ve been able to grab sales that I might not have otherwise. It took me about 15 minutes to get it set up on my first blog. Subsequent blogs now only take around 5 minutes or so, depending on how many affiliate links and keywords I add.

You know how you are writing a blog post and as you go through you think this keyword or that would be good for an affiliate link? Then you start rolling through your affiliate rolodex to find the code to use? Pain in the ass every time isn’t it? Well this little plug-in allows you to specify keywords and match them up with affiliate code all at once.

So lets say you have website on dog training. And really, who doesn’t, right? So every time you post up an article you have to go to Cickbank and grab your code for whatever ebook you want to foist on your readership. Maybe you think you’re cool and have them listed in a spreadsheet. Cut and paste Charlie they call you. Well, not me, superfly.

On my dog training blog I go into WPAP and add keywords like “dog training”, “dog lessons” and “dogs” and match them up to an affiliate program link. So now every time when I type those keywords an affiliate link will be added.

So you’re wondering what happens if I use the word “dogs” 17 times in my post. Well you can specify how many times you want that keyword used as a link. Personally I stick with no more than two per post. So you’re also wondering what if you have 8-10 posts on your blog front page and end up with the word “dog” 37 times. Well the plug-in works by post. So if you have it set to link the word “dog” once per post then the most “dog” will appear linked is 8-10 times on your blog front page.

See all those text links spread throughout Lost Ball? Those are from WPAP. So from now on when I type PLRPro (notice this one is not linked) it automatically adds an affiliate link for me. Saving me time. Because I am a lazy bastard. If you want to work less, I’d say pick this product up. It has saved me time and has made me money.

So you ask how has it made you money? When I am posting to my blog sometimes I just don’t feel like going back and adding an affiliate link, even though I know I can make money doing so. This way if I have a product I want to affiliate link to and a keyword that I’ll use, I just add to WPAP and from then on it will set up that link for that keyword. It’s a simple setup. One time for each keyword and you’re done.

OK, so back to making the money. Yes, I credit it with helping make me an affiliate sale the week after I installed it on my first blog. I know that I never would have manually linked to that keyword in that article. But when I installed WPAP on the blog I added 10 keywords or so with a couple of affiliate links and it was set. I haven’t touched it since and in the three weeks I’ve had it installed I’ve pulled in two affiliate sales. Beats the hell out of Adsense.

I tell you right now, all my blogs have this installed now. And no, this product alone won’t make you rich. This product is solely to save you time. What is going to make you rich is what you do to drive the traffic to your site so they’ll click on these links and hopefully make a purchase.

Oh, and one last thing (P.S. for those who like guberu sales jargon). It has a built in click counter. It will tell you how many times each keyword was clicked and what post was read to deliver that click. Think about that. If “dog run” is getting you 80 clicks and 12 sales and “dog trot” is only getting you 12 clicks and 0 sales, which keyword are you going to use again?

I looked at WPAP after I read your post and looked at the videos and though that it looked very good but that there was something familiar about it..I am sure I have the same plugin but that I bought it under a different name or from a different website. But do you think I can find it!!

It is with out a doubt an excellent tool but the price seems a bit steep especially as there are free plugins that do a similar job. On the other hand it definitely works so it’s who’s to say it’s not worth the money….

I just wish I could find the version that I bought

Yea man. I’m a fan of this type of automation. You need to find your copy or dig up a plug-in for free if this one is out of reach. I just find it a very nice time saver. It won’t make you money per se, but will save you loads of hassle. You can certainly do what it does for nothing and like you say, maybe find a similar plug-in for nada.

    Hey Mark,

We actually purchased it from Catalin who used to own it. So you may have purchased it before.

if so you would have picked it up from http://www.wpaffiliatepro.com, which we also own now obviously in buying the rights for the software.

Hope that helps clear some thing sup.

    Thanks
    Marc

Do I need to have a hosted domain for this to work or can I use it on blogs hosted at WordPress? Thanks.

Wordpress apparently does not let you add plug-ins. “For a variety of reasons we do not permit the uploading and use of plugins on wordpress.com”.

So yea, you would have to have a hosted domain to use this plug-in.
