So today is the big day. Every pimp has their people primed to rush out and purchase this product. Of course the effectiveness will dissipate quicker than the ill-fated blog and ping dance.
Tag and ping has been around for quite a while now. Why are the gurus just now jumping aboard? Just the latest thing to make money on I suppose. Most of these “authority” sites will soon be adding “no follow” to the links so the PR won’t mean squat, if they haven’t already. If you have the money you should jump now and ride it out as long as you can, because in a months time I’m betting the effectiveness will about as good as B&P. Chances are you could learn all you need to know by doing a little research at Delicious, Technorati and the like.
I think social bookmarking will always be effective as a way to generate traffic though. I just wouldn’t be counting on getting authority page rank from T&P forever. My guess is the reason the authors decided to go ahead and publish this is that we are at the end game of PR effectiveness. Otherwise why would they give up such a juicy secret?

A very helpful link if you are interested in T&G and saving a bit of money.

Tag and ping has always been, for me at least, a way to build traffic. Pagerank has never had any relation to revenues or traffic, in my experience. I’ve got a PR0 site that makes over $100 a day, and I recently sold a PR5 that made about $10 a month on a good month.
That said, when I started using social bookmarking back in November/December of last year, I was pretty sure I was among the last to know about the technique.
So I guess if they’re letting the ‘rest of the net’ in on it now, it’s nearing the end of the game anyway.

Hey Wendy. Thanks for reading.
I think you are right about Page Rank. I certainly don’t make the scratch you’re pulling in, but the sites that do make me a little money have zero page rank.
For anyone who is reading these comments, I would also suggest you go to Wendy’s site and read her posts on Tag and Ping. She does a nice job of discussing tagging.
I think we both agree that T&P for PR is probably a dying, if not dead, idea. I still think social bookmarking is viable for traffic. It seems to me that it is sort of what the web, i.e., linking, sharing, etc., is all about.

I am now getting emails from the gurus that are saying that there is now a storm of controversy over this new T&P package. Apparently the gurus have caught wind of the backlash from people saying that you can figure out T&P all by your lonesome without having to pay for their commissions.
Guru is saying that their time is worth more than that and for a mere $150 all the info is presented for you without you having to spend time researching.
Maybe so. But all the same I’d rather read the resources freely available (like above) and learn that way than spend the money.
Funny how these gurus are saying they’ve been doing this for years. Give them a package to promote and they are all about talking about how wonderful it all is for the commission.
Do yourself a favor. Put the wallet away. Write ten articles, grab a free web template, build a website, submit them to the directories, slap some adsense on them, pimp an affiliate program and trade a few links. It’s always been that easy. You’ll be better off. Now if I’d just follow my own advice…

Thanks for sharing this. I suspected that the info was nothing new but was looking for confirmation. I’ll be doing my own research.
My highest income earning site was self made with custom articles and no tricks plus it produces income month after month.
As you say these authority sites are going to get sick of the influx of crud that comes their way and take countermeasures - maybe the rebalance won’t occur immediately but it will happen.

LOL. Yes, the tag and ping course came and went like, in 3 days. One day it was ravvving and the next came crashing down.
I’m still trying to make sense of tagging and pinging and trackbacks, so I could to a ping/trackback, whichever is correct, on your Affilorama entry. After what seems like eternity, it’s still not working out.
Maybe I gotta sleep on it.

I think social bookmarking can really be of value. I hope people use it for some of my blogs.
Yea I haven’t really figured out trackbacks and pingbacks and the like. Honestly I’m a bit tired of trying to figure all this stuff out.
