I have no idea what to think of this “free” SEO tool from StomperNet. The Site Seer. I have to believe that with all the guberu pimping of this tool that there has to some upsell. Nothing is free in Internet marketing. The fancy video production is a bit off-putting to me so I’ll have to take a pass on the whole show. I have SEO Elite so I don’t see what the point is anyway.
In case you signed up for the report or video or whatever, be prepared. You have just sold your soul to the marketing devil. I hope your spam filter is working properly. Train it well young warrior for you are about to be stomped to death by an onslaught of email.

Happy to say that I didn’t receive 1 email on this. That is a first!

What do you think is going to happen when they have all this information? I am scared to think about that. I will not be putting my sites into it.
Shamir // May 17, 2008 at 3:27 am
I think the free tools they’re giving away is only to generate some buzz of their main course, being Stompernet.
I must say though, that the quality of free stuff given out by high profiled IM’er’s is on the rise. This is a good thing.

Let’s see now… ethically, it would seem that, when you offer a free anything, access to it should be pretty straightforward, not over, around, under, and through a set of obstacles… but, hey, what do I know?

“Sell your soul to the marketing devil”?
LOL! Wow. I’ve been called a lot of things - but never a MARKETING DEVIL.
Nice. I’ll add that to the long, infamous list of my accomplishments.
You forgot “Marketing Has-Been, LIAR, Rude, Arrogant, EVIL, and Terrorist”.
John, I think we’re pretty ethical - and I think asking for an email address and name to verify a user so they can use our tool meets that standard. And that’s the ONLY obstacle - end of case.
What will happen when we have all this information is - we’ll create more free videos that tell people what the most common on-page and off-page SEO mistakes people make are, and how to fix them.
Then we will use it to kill people and take their money and cause famine and drug-use by teens.
There, is that better? More in keeping with my “Reputation”?
Gotta go plan on how to steal more money from Old Grandmothers and people on limited incomes.
I enjoyed being here.

I think its because they’re re-opening their $800/month Stompernet doors. Besides I’m immune to that kinda stuff by now.
I haven’t tried their SSS though.

Thanks for reading Andy. whatever dude…

Does anyone else find it interesting that I am ranked #4 for “StomperNet Site Seer”? Without fancy SEO bullshit. Just a post. I am ranked higher than imnewswatch.com. Higher than andybeard and others. People who know WTF they are doing…I guess. Given that I know nothing, isn’t it interesting that I can be ranked without evaluating any onsite, offsite SEO things. Maybe it will last a day. I probably could care less. But isn’t it interesting that a nobody like me can write a post and sit right behind the stompers and in front of some pretty big guys.
Andy Jenkins // May 17, 2008 at 3:54 pm
It’s Stomper Site Seer. I don’t think anyone but you is blogging about StomperNET site seer.
That would explain it. There’s no competition friend.
“Whatever dude….”
Nice.

get the SEO Quake toolbar (seoquake.com) the mozilla version works better the the IE version
it’s free, it works, no hype, no barrage of sales pitches later
Splork // May 17, 2008 at 4:59 pm
You’re right of course. I must be mistaken to think that your website was named stompernet. Must be somebody else. They’ve stolen your videos and created a site with stompernet.net and stompernet.com. You may want to check on that. Besides what’s wrong with competing with Stompernet Site Seer? The site is StomperNet. The product is Site Seer. Seems reasonable to me. I bet someone will use that as a search term and guess who is sitting at #4 casting doubt on the whole enterprise? Little ol’ me.
stomper.com <– The Leading Music Site on the Net
stomper site seer <—Leading Music Site on the Net with an SEO tool?
I remember a couple of years ago when I decide to join your stomper club. I had the audacity to request a refund. And I got the same belittling shit from you then as I get from you now. We went back and forth via email about how I didn’t know what the hell I was doing and how I didn’t know a thing. Maybe I don’t. Actually I know I don’t. But I discovered something very telling about your attitude when someone isn’t interested in your steeze.
But you know, thanks for reading.

Amazing, that a big player in the IM space like StomperNet, has the generosity to provide a great tool and advice for free, yet still has to take a tongue lashing for it.

“It’s Stomper Site Seer. I don’t think anyone but you is blogging about StomperNET site seer.”
Ummm:
StomperNet Site Seer is HERE! (but some don’t care)
http://www.andrewbetts.com/blog/2008/05/17/stompernet-site-seer-is-here/
number 3 n my ‘G’ search, with a link to Splork who, as I type this, is number 6 .
And of course, this doesn’t include all those marketing forums discussing this ‘debate’ right now.
Thanks for this post Splork, it’s led me to some great, and often entertaining, reads
Barry // May 17, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Just checked.
Splork, you are #14 on Google for stomper site seer, no quotes around the words.
Barry // May 17, 2008 at 8:27 pm
One other thing.
Why do you need to pay anyone for the same old SEO stuff when Grizz has outlined enough of it to get anyone about 90% of where he needs to go?
You can get the other 10% for free from one of several other sites dealing with webmaster topics.
Stompernet and stomper site seer just stomp your pocketbook. Just like 99% of the other guru stuff.
Unless the guru has an “in” at Google, they’re just guessing like the rest of us. they may have a lot more examples to work from, but they’re still guessing.
Splork // May 17, 2008 at 8:58 pm
I’m just glad that some people are starting to question the marketing of these guberus without taking things at face value.
Listen to the Four Horsemen. They provide the only advice that is worthwhile and free in my book with very, very few exceptions.
Jay | Internet Marketing Etc // May 17, 2008 at 10:06 pm
Quite an entertaining post this has turned out to be.
Mark Ling // May 18, 2008 at 3:49 am
I’ve enjoyed the videos and recommend them to anyone. But siteseer, hmmm, I’ve tried it and as yet it has not fed me back any results. That was a couple of days ago. So I’m not sure it’s actually working yet. Also their image doesn’t load (the one that is supposed to make me not look like a Robot).
Anyway, I strongly recommend that you Splork check out their free videos. Even if you don’t buy stomper. And no, I’m not promoting the stomper launch, I’m just letting you know as they are right on the money, they’re doing pretty much what I’m doing in ppc and seo, (but I still gained a couple of valuable ideas that I’m not doing yet) and I can tell you from first hand knowledge that it works.
Plus those videos I’m referring to are free anyway, so why not watch them? You know if they are selling a $$$ product that the free advice will be good or else who would pay for the high priced product?
Mark
Splork // May 18, 2008 at 7:26 am
Thanks Mark. Your counsel is always appreciated and valued. I may have a look back through them.
Frank C // May 18, 2008 at 9:47 am
I thought that the free Stompernet videos I’ve seen were geared toward ecommerce sites, not blogging or other forms of niche marketing.
I also thought that what they were offering at a substantial price with their membership plan was available elsewhere for free or at a low cost. Perhaps if someone needs a degree of hand-holding it would be worth it but other than that, I’d say no.
Andy Jenkins // May 18, 2008 at 3:05 pm
Can we all be friends now?
I’m just saying….
Splork // May 18, 2008 at 4:31 pm
Absolutely.
Good call.
Vinny Lingo // May 24, 2008 at 6:10 pm
Why be friends? We all agree to disagree that your overpriced trash is outclassed by such luminaries as a guy running his site on a free blogger blog (who doesn’t charge a thing), and you go back to collecting large monthly payments for selling people shit and calling it shinola?
Why not continue to point out that people like you are why newcomers to internet marketing typically have their wallets quickly emptied, and are shamed into quitting after they realize they’ve been had?
It’s been said by others with a broader reach than myself that self-proclaimed gurus like yourself would see your business model go down in flames in a traditional brick and mortar business environment. Maybe you should grow a conscience and quit bilking people. Perhaps then we can talk friendship?

Taking money without first informing the payer is one of the oldest and most underhanded tricks in the book. It’s certainly unethical. I don’t care what the small print reads, these people use this tactic cus it works, and at the end of the day they’re only interested in their own bottom line, not yours!
Look, all decent companies, even if you’ve signed up to have scheduled payments go out on such and such a date, will send you an ‘automated’ reminder a few days before the payment is due. This is a courtesy reminder and it gives the payer the opportunity to either continue with or cancel the transaction. Heck, I even get such a reminder with some small hosting debits each and every month.
I singed up for an outfit called Article Marketer a couple of years back and they had an annual debit which is an option at signup. Well, a full year later, and more than 9 months without using their service, a $97 debit was made, and one of which I’d totally forgotten about. They didn’t pre-warn me about the debit, and when I asked for a refund as I hadn’t used their service for so long and had no intentions of using it in the future, they referred me back to the original agreement and said that was an end to it.
So shame on you tricksters shame on you for being underhanded!

I probably have you all beat. I’ve been scammed to the tune of $5K in this business. That’s right $5,000. When I was with Content Desk they had a guest speaker who was one of these underground jokers who was supposedly making crazy money with Adsense. He had around 10-12 slots open where he would mentor you. I was naive and had money so I thought why not? It had the blessing of some top guys at CD. I talked to this asshole on the phone before I sent him my money. It seemed fine. Until a week went by and nothing happened. He came back and dribbled a few shitty videos to watch. He promised a site builder that would blow you away that we’d be using soon. Then he’d drop off the face of the earth for a little while loner. Feeding us just little tidbits of info and tactics. It was such bullshit and after a month we realized we’d been had. None of the training materialized. The promises were never kept. The people in the group were getting livid. After a while we never heard from the motherfucker again. I never felt like such a tool and idiot. I want to believe in people. And it’s a lesson that I sometimes have to keep learning over and over because I want to believe. I believe in this business. I believe some people have no agenda and I’ve learned the hard way who these people are. But if you are emailing me like some damn infomercial asshat I refuse to go along. I don’t believe in fancy videos and slick marketing salepages. And I don’t want other people to believe in it either because it’s all bullshit. That is one of the reasons for this site. To get you to think about all the sale hype. It may work out for you but I don’t people going into it blind. And you can watch me crash and burn and sometimes succeed.

Who do you know ‘personally’ that makes great money online selling PPC advertising and affiliate products on a regular and consistent basis? When I got to thinking about this, the answer was no one. That’s not 1 single person. Sure, we all know of people who claim to make thousands or even millions or dollars, and we see their boastful bank statement in their video presentations and sales pages. But we don’t know them personally, we only know ‘of them’.
THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT MAKE REAL MONEY ONLINE ARE THOSE WHO SELL PRODUCTS OR SERVICES TEACHING PEOPLE HOW TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE!!!
Actually, the above statement can’t be strictly true. I’m certain there are plenty of self taught people who are doing very nicely thank you very much, but we rarely hear about them because they are too busy doing their own thing to be sucked into the hype which prays on the wannabes looking for those ‘get-rich-quick’ schemes (scams!).
Look, selling profit-making ideas might be a lucrative income stream, be it a products with updates, or private paid memberships. But if these guys really did as well as they say they did, they would be far, far, too busy making their own money by rinsing and repeating their own proven methods to bother with the time consuming task of writing and selling their secrets to anyone with cash to spend.
Don’t worry my netentrepreneurs as the scammer’s time is nearing an end. Folks are getting more ‘savvy’ online, and even the best of the best sales pitches and video presentations are just not cutting it like they used to.
Want to make money online? STOP buying products and services from guru newsletters, sales pages, and forum plugs, and learn in your own time, at your own pace. Believe me, this is not rocket science. With a little bit of topic research, a few basics on SEO, a nice looking site with interactive elements, and lots of ‘unique’ content, along with a bit dollop of patience and persistence, and you’ll do just fine.
Need a little help and advice? Join a forum, a community, where others solopreneurs gather to happily pass on tips and tricks between themselves free of charge. Follow your gut, and not the directions of those selling a dream, and you WILL achieve your goals.
I’ll just finish on this: Almost all of the so called Gurus have been quoted as saying that 99% of all the money making products and services sold online are crap! I have no idea where they get this information from, but guess who’s in the 1% They themselves of course!
Splork // May 27, 2008 at 6:40 am
I dunno. I think there are quite a number of people who do fine marketing affiliate programs and working Adsense. Despite it all, I pretty much meet my goals every month, as modest as they may be for some.
I don’t think any of these programs and such are of great value, but I do believe in products without which I wouldn’t be able to get done a quarter of what I do. XSP, RSS2B (and its support programs like AE), WPDFI, PLRPro are some that I use at least weekly. Other products like link Luv Post Builder, Directory Submitter and FastBlog Finder are little programs that I would hate to have to do what they provide manually. There aren’t many days where I won’t get a link somehow with these programs. Some days 5. Some days 20. Depends on my motivation. I use Orwell Pro to gather content for my blogs when I don’t feel like writing a full post. And I like using SEO Elite and nichebot in tandem.
The people that provided these products definitely make real money selling them, but I believe they help me make more money than I could without them. I don’t need any of these products to make money but it sure makes things easier.
I’ve learned a lot about a lot of stuff in the online world. But I do know persistence pays off eventually and setting reasonable expectations will make you a lot happier.
