Tuesday Crap

July 24th, 2007 · 4 Comments

I decided I didn’t want to be cute and title this post something like Tuesday Tidbits or Thoughts From Tuesday. I have some crap to talk about so let’s just call a spade a spade and get on with it.

I’m feeling a bit lonely today. My inbox has gone from about 50 emails each morning to about 7. The great purge is finally winding down. I had been unsubscribing at a rapid pace. I suppose that could be a detriment to my rants over the all the pimping going on by the guberus, but it had to be done. I can get all the free spam I want in one nice location by visiting Internet Marketing Newswatch. Kind of says a lot about IM when there is a news site dedicated to bringing you news of all the crap being pushed by the pimpmasters. It’s a brilliant site. It’s just stupid that it has come to this.

Last week I whined about how I was pretty tired of the game. Feel pretty much the same this week unfortunately. I decided that I actually have a couple of pretty decent sites that I could build on. They just need promoting. I have this health and fitness site that has just been kind of languishing around. I’ve got subdomains built (yoga, pilates), subdomains planned to be built (exercise equipment, weight loss, etc.) and a blog. I spent time on the header graphics. I spent time trying to make the blog look like the website. Frankly, I put a lot of time into the thing and haven’t done much with it. How stupid.

Another thing that I haven’t done much with is fully utilize PLRPro. Especially when they so generously offer up excellent software for nada. They provide their members a shiny new copy of Brad Callen’s Directory Submitter Gold. Now, I’m not much into submitting my sites to the directories. It’s tedium defined. But this tool at least makes managing the process so much better.

No, DS is not some fire and forget software. You do have to put forth some effort, but it’s easily managed by the lazy among us. For each website you want to submit, you create a project where you provide a listing title, URL, description, keywords and your personal info. The program has a database of over 2,200 directories. You can sort through them to see which are paid, which are free, which have high PR or low PR.

So now you’ve found a directory you want to submit your site to. You then click the listing and DS brings up the directory’s web page. In some cases you’ll have to surf around to find the right place to add your URL. Not a big deal. Then once you find the page to add your info the software populates all the fields. You generally have to select the category your site belongs in and also type in the CRAPTCHA. Once you’ve submitted your site, you’ll notice that DS kept a record of when you submitted to that site.

I’ve tried a couple of others like this software. One by Jeff Alderson a while back and another one I think I purchased from a guberu about a year ago. Honestly can’t remember WTF the name of it was. Anyway, they were both crap and I promptly asked for a refund. If you need a directory submitter, DS would be my choice. Um, actually it is my choice.

Affiliate Link Alert! The links that follow have my affiliate code embedded in them. Full Disclosure! Warning! There is potential for money to exchange hands!

In my feeble mind, there are two ways to get this program. You can simply click here and go to the directory submitter site,

Or join PLRPro and get it for nothing. That’s the route I took.

Hey don’t get discouraged. I like your blog and writing. I need to go back to the archives and catch up on it. By the way I think guberus, is hilarious!

SubmitEaze is the best directory submitter by far… and they just released a new version 4.0

… sorry to rain on your affiliate parade.. but I felt it was worth mentioning.

Even with the best directory submitter software, I find the whole process boring as hell and unbearable.

I think there is better ways (more profitable) to spend your time. This is a task that can be outsourced for cheap. I’ve seen some great prices on the forums (with good reviews, results).

I would not spend hours of my own time submitting… outsource this stuff. It will take you 8-10 hours to go through a long directory submit list… or you can pay some guy in India to do it for $17.

I agree with Emma here… I like your blog also… and don’t get discouraged.

Good job on cleaning out your email inbox. I have all my “Guru” emails sent to a dummy hotmail account. It’s fun to logon occasionally and see some of these guys sending sales pitches 5 times a week.

Hey Dorian. I agree with you. Outsourcing is the way to go for stupid tasks like directory submissions. I just haven’t gotten with the program on that. I haven’t tried SubmitEaze. I got DS free for being a member of PLRPro.

I miss all the guberu’s. My email inbox has literally gone from 10-15 offers a day from the likes of Joel Comm, Andrew Fox and Keith Baxter to maybe one or two a week from those that I kept like Michael Campbell or Allan Gardyne. It’s heavenly.
