Is it just me or are you all getting hit with a lot of membership offers lately? Now, I realize that memberships are the holy grail of successful IM. Lob 250-1,000 people into a soup paying $47-$97 a month and you’re talking about some serious spending money. Wash, rinse and repeat a few times and you’ll be kicking it in your villa in the Bahamas with a smoothie in one hand and a hottie of your choice in the other.
I wonder who is really benefiting here? Are you making a lot of money with your memberships? Honestly? I’m not. Honestly. I am a member of three ’ships. InfoGoRound which I’ve never paid a dime for. PLRPro which I’ve been a member of from the first day the doors swung open and nichebot. I guess you could say I’m a member of Affilorama but in a few months, who isn’t? But I’m not making a lot of money from being a member of any of them. Sure it’s my fault. I don’t sling the websites like I used to. I don’t pimp products and solicit email lists. But I do know this: I’m helping the guys who run those operations make some pretty good bank. That’s where the money is.
Do people really benefit from sucking off the success of others? I guess it happens. Some affiliate marketers claim to make huge dollars selling Crapbank shit with Adwords. But is it because they are members of some club? I doubt it.
Everyone wants to tap into this residual income model. The claims for Internet glory get more outrageous with each salesletter. The competition for my dollars is fierce. I bet there are some people that are members of 5,8, 10 ’ships. Heck I can’t find time to use what I get from PLRPro each month much less trying to figure out what to do with anything else.
It’s sick. Each salesletter promises you something better. More money. More potential. More sales. Better system. I don’t believe any of them anymore. Though I want to believe. I read the salesletters trying to gleam just a shimmer of truth. Of hope. But ultimately I realize that they just want my money. And that I haven’t begun to fully utilize the benefits of the membership I’m already paying for anyway.
The new thing now seems to be helping people step-by-step. Whether you have skills or not these systems are prepared to help you make money on line. Why is this? I think that the bucket of low-mid level marketers to sell to is empty. We’re tapped out. Or we haven’t made any money with the memberships we’ve bought the last couple of years and the guberus latest button to push is the “can’t fail” mantra. From Nicherocket:
“Here Is The Most Complete & Powerful ‘Online Marketing Toolkit’ On The Planet… And, It Comes With An Amazing Panel Of Experts Who Willingly Hold Your Hand, Advise You, And Virtually Guarantee Your Success Each Step Of The Way, Regardless Of How Advanced Or Lacking Your Skills Are! If You Can Follow A Simple Paint by Number System, You Quite Simply Cannot Fail… Guaranteed!
Sounds good to me. The message being if you are dumbass you can’t fail. Even if you’ve failed before, you can’t fail with Nicherocket. Now, I have no idea if NR can live up to this. Maybe it can. It sounds good. And you can try it out for a dollar. Maybe I will. nichebot is great. Anyway, I’m just using it as an example of the type of spam I’ve been getting from marketers trying to get me to buy memberships. You gotta figure the marketers are going to come up with new angles to make their money. And the angle today appears to be market to beginners and those that just haven’t made it yet in this business. They are desperate and/or have the money to spend.
Seems like the guberus always swing the doors open for new or existing memberships at the end of the year. Hope for filling up their halls for the new year. I’ll be sure to wave if I see you standing at the window as I float on by.

Nicherocket can claim to hold your hand all day long, but how much attention and hand-holding can they really give you once they get past a certain number of members? That’s probably the biggest reason why I joined Carbon Copy Pro (http://www.carbon-copy-pro.com). They literally do everything. The websites are built and proven to convert, they already have the autoresponders in place, they call to follow up, they have twice-a-week live conference calls for new prospects, etc. As long as you can send traffic to their page, they’ll close for you, and the commissions range from $700 to over $8000 plus residual monthly income. It’s an impressive system!

What you say is very true, membership sites make HUGE money selling the spades or shovels.
Does joining membership sites actually make us any serious money? I’m afraid to say it but I’m actually a little sick of all the crap I see out there.
I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t bother about bonuses/free stuff/ junk stuff/ crap stuff that all the gurus are trying to sell to me.
The gurus think they can keep banking on new people who don’t know much to keep filling their coffers; this is going to end up being a serious flaw of judgment.
In a world full of lies, smoke and mirrors, flash in pans, snake oil, and less than commendable ethics, your blog serves as a small beacon of some sense and sensibility. Keep it up.
Some wannabe gurus and other more real gurus actually dislike your blog, but I say, keep blogging and telling the truth.

Hi Splork
Just found you and wanted to say thank a million. Finally someone who doesn’t spew bullshit. I too am well sick of all the crap being sent to me, all the testimonials coming from each other without them having tried the product, incestuous to say the least. I just take myself right of their list but it’s like a disease eating into your heart. I love you and will continue to read you
