Making Use of the .info Domains

August 19th, 2008 · 5 Comments

As most of the 11 readers of this blog know I partied with the BANS/BMD/.info kids only to wake up with a headache. I have 25 sites that have BANS installed that are completely ignored by Google. I have begun a process of dismantling those that I believe have potential. Meaning, those sites that I have PLR content for I have been substituting BANS with XSP. I am going to monetize it with Ebay via a StoreStacker store hanging off the main domain.

I am having moderate success with SS on a couple of other sites. Not the stay at home in my pajama type of success but without doing much more than adding a link on the home page to the store page I’m grabbing a sale or two a month. Much, much better action than Adsense. I really need to do more with this platform and Ebay.

Anyway, I am interested to see if Google takes me out of the sandbox. I’ve only rebuilt one of these sites so far. I submitted a sitemap to Google. I’ve been getting links. Commenting. The site is nothing but text, photos, a javascript ad and outgoing links. I’ll let you know if Google reevaluates the site and releases it from the beach. Maybe I’ll do a couple with XSP and a couple with WP.

Unfortunately, the topic on most of these domains I bought are too specific. I don’t have PLR for most and it would be too time consuming or expensive to get shit written for them. Plus I don’t know if these domains have assaulted the Google beach only to have been permanently expired by the Google snipers. Anyway, for those few that I can massage PLR into and build an article niche site, I’ll go ahead and make use of the domain. Honestly out of the 25 I’ll probably only be able to use 5 as article niche sites. It’s worth a shot I think and will be an interesting test to see how they evaluate a site that goes from spam to informative niche. My guess I’ll be right back here in 3 months whining how my time continues to be wasted on these .info sites.

Throw in a related YouTube video as well and maybe a link to a related Knol article. Google knows you have to be for real if you link to one or more of their properties.

Good idea. I’ve been using videos but I never thought of linking out to Knol. I just added another page to my site and linked to a related article. Thanks for the tip.

From everything I’m reading and hearing, it’s appears to be better to completely rebuild from scratch after receiving a Google slap, which includes beginning with a new domain name.

I lift my coffee mug high and wish you quick release from Google purgatory.

Yea I’m rebuilding but I want to see if it’s possible to recover a site that has been shelled and left for dead on Google beach .

Google Bot and Slurp have been sniffing around the site the last two days since I submitted my new site map those SE’s. Could a breakthrough be forthcoming? I doubt it too.
