The one thing that really bugs me is the Chinese are killing the west by selling so much cheap stuff. (We like idiots buy it because it's so cheap). This just kills off many jobs while we're making China rich. The wealth is being transferred from the West to China. A lot of "credit" goes to Walmart. That store should change their name to "Made in China" instead. What's the solution? Add a customs duty so that their products are in line with what is manufactured here. And if it isnt manufactured here because China killed off that industry, hey, add a 500% tax so that this industry will get revived here again. What government has the guts to do this???

You're right Dan. It is sick. all you had to do is look at the stats for the federal pay that came out a few weeks ago.

"Government workers are enjoying a boom time since the democrats took over Congress. The average pay of a federal worker jumped to $71,206, compared with $40,331 in the private sector."

Government grows. The government does not create wealth or "stuff". They only suck from the taxpayers.

Splork,

I fight this battle at the local level as well and I completely agree with Barry's comment...

We the people don't stand a chance against the big government employee unions. It's absolutely ridiculous how strong and powerful these organization have gotten!

Do you realize that right now the gov. is basically taking money from us (tax payers) and our retirement accounts, what's left of them, to pay the guaranteed and over-inflated pensions of the same gov. employee union members?

Absolutely sick!

You're right I really hope the people get some control back in 2010.

The young opt for socialism because they get more direct orders from corporate America than they get from the government. They are socialist for the same reason you do Internet marketing.

What they don't understand is how the welfare state subsidizes corporate serfdom. Many self-described progressives and socialists are actually Luddites. That's why you see independent business owners joining the Left camp. That's why you see vendors selling "Capitalism Kills" T-shirts.

The Republicans have embraced croney capitalism, where Bill Gates pays a lower marginal rate for cashing in Microsoft stock than your family doctor pays for his upper middle class earnings.

Pat Buchanan is trying to organize the Luddites away from their alliance with the New Deal Left, but his mixing of small is beautiful with crochiteyness and hints of racism is off-putting to most. I'm ever-so-slowly trying to build something more mainstream and palatable, but am resource constrained at the moment.

---

My hat is off to you for doing the home school thing! If all conservatives would boycott the welfare state in such fashion, it would be the end of the welfare state. But the cost is high.

We have one chance I think. The Tenth Amendment. I participate in the Tea Parties and rallies, but we have seen how mostly ineffective they are. The politicians won't listen. The elections in 2010 will be very interesting. But ultimately states are going to have to push back on federal intrusion and growth via the 10th.

I wrote my state senator about the health care bill and the state attorney general looking at the constitutionality of the bill. Two state reps sent the attorney general a letter asking him to look into it. He sent me a response via his iPhone saying he supports what is happening in TN.

Anyway, the changes have to come local. The federal elites are going to continue to ignore the Constitution. The states have the power and I think will soon be wielding it. Things may in fact get very interesting in this country.

I wrote a blog a great deal like you are doing, but I got paranoid and stopped. It's in the header I filled out for this comment.

Starting with Ronald The Gipper, we have been selling out the people of this country to some vague, ill-defined but perfectly organized movement to create one world.

It didn't really start with The Gipper, but it was just coasting until the Guys in the California Redwoods and the Council on Foreign Relations decided to hurry things along.

We, the people, don't stand a chance as long as there are government employee unions and unconstitutional institutions running things, starting with the Federal Reserve System.

Get ready for inflation like you've never seen before, confiscatory taxation and all the trappings of the police state.

It's over.

You too Amanda? My malfunction is reading websites. Comments mostly. I can't tell you how many times I've had to walk away from the computer in disgust and go play Left for Dead 2 or something with my oldest just to vent and chill. What scares me is the youngsters from 18-24. They are simply lemmings. Following along with the liberal campus agendas. How did Socialism, tyranny and Marxism become cool? Why do they feel capitalism is evil?

Anyway, next semester I'll be teaching my oldest civics. I'll be using the 5000 Year Leap homeschool guide and book. Thanks a bunch for the reference. I'll check it out and see if we can use it as well.

Me and a bunch of others who live in my county are organizing a class to teach others about the Constitution. The class is based on Michael Badnarik's famous videos. If you haven't seen them they're available on YouTube. I got tired of yelling at the TV.
