Interesting Traffic Building Tactic

March 16th, 2007 · 4 Comments

Broc at Existential Ventures is hard at work getting traffic to his blog. He’s decided to email 100 bloggers to introduce to his blog. He’s also running a contest to win a printer if you join his MyBlogLog community. Honestly I never got an email but I do monitor the latest activity in the blog dashboard and saw his link come through.

I think it’s pretty cool when folks like Broc come up with different ways to get people to their blogs. It’s not all about free traffic from Google. Big G can’t control the community. Get your blog in with a good group of people and their people will read your blog. Your people will read theirs and around and around we go.

It is. Don’t know why it didn’t get through.

I might be too lazy to make the post for a chance to get a printer. But, I did follow your link to Broc’s blog and another link from there to another blog and learned about a predicted PR tool, so the networking aspect worked.

As an aside, in your posts, what’s with the double-underlined words and the little ads? What is that and do you find it a decent way to monetize a blog?

The double-underlined words is from Kontera. I like it better than Adsense as I think Adsense looks junky. I never really wanted to put Adsense on this blog but I needed a way to monetize the traffic I get. Kontera fit the bill perfectly. I do find it to be a pretty good way to monetize my sites. I like it a lot. It performs well on sites with and without Adsense.
