Blog Success Does Not Check Their Work

December 2nd, 2008 · 3 Comments

I decided to pick on Blog Success today. After reading the salescopy I got motivated to do a little blogging. I went to a couple of the blogs that they are presenting as successful and marveled at how they were making the money they were. One of them about being a mom gets 100’s of comments for each post she makes. Get yourself a bunch of groupies and you’ve got it made. She supposedly makes 40K in ad revenue. One blog. Talking about her experience about being a mom…jeez.

Anyway, did you notice the screen shot they put up for Boing Boing? Um, it’s a Network Solutions landing page for parked domains. For Boing Boing dot com. Hardly the successful Boing Boing dot net website that they were referring to. I seriously doubt that Boing Boing  dot com is a multi million dollar blog. For one it’s not a blog. Two, it’s not that famous. Makes me wonder about the sincerity of the salescopy. Outsourcing problems? Has the site been visited before they referenced it? Etc. etc.

I have two of the products that come with Blog Success: Video and Utility Poster. They are pretty cool actually. They are one of the reasons I wouldn’t join the club. It feels like I wasted money if I did. I probably should though. Maybe they could help me make money with my blogs. But I’m not interested in spending another $97…per month… at this time. I’m flipping too much in the air as it is.

But I will say that looking at the other blogs that they reference on the salespage (and not the landing page for the parked domain) can motivate you to really try to create a popular blog. It’s not as easy as the salespage would lead you to believe but it is attainable..and fun.

    Haaaa…

I noticed that as well, as I have been solicited many times with e-mail offers promoting the Blog Success membership..

    Too funny…

It was for boingboing.com. If it were boingboing.net, then they would have been fine.

Dooce.com (a blog also listed in the copy) is a decent “mommy” site with an edge to it. I can understand why Heather Armstrong’s blog is popular.

Her writing style can draw you into her world. Read her “about me” page for some interesting insight about her life.

I just don’t know if it is making 40,000 a month in advertising revenue as Blog Success seems to allude to.

I am surprised that they didn’t include the Bankaholic.com example. 15 million John Wu will be picking up for his two year old, keyword optimized blog (if the truth be told).

I just wonder if I will ever be able to completely get rid of all the offers I get in my e-mail box for all of these repacked Internet/Blog marketing programs.

Oh well, my bad for signing up for all those free ebooks offers. Nothing is really free, is it..

    That’s funny stuff.

Obviously this program is feeding off people that just don’t know any better. If the individual getting involved doesn’t know enough to recognize these types of mistakes, they aren’t going to recognize when BS is BSing them with other incorrect tools, tips, and instructions on how to become the next blogging phenom.

I could understand if it were a small less known site. I could understand if it were JUST a .com/.net typo in a link. But to actually goes so far as to display the wrong screen shot too?!

They fixed it. One of their forum groupies must have alerted them to their mistake.
