Traffic Jam

December 6th, 2007 · 8 Comments

I purchased The Traffic Manifesto. I asked for a refund about 30 minutes later. Why did I buy this ebook? I was hoping for some fresh web traffic generating ideas. Like maybe I was missing something in my current efforts to get people to come click shit on my websites. Well, there wasn’t anything ground-breaking for me in the ebook. And why is that? Well, I’ll tell you.

Earlier this year I downloaded a free ebook from Jack Humphrey titled the Authority Black Book. It had dang near every Web 2.0 resource, and what to do with it, on the WWW. I would have paid $37 for that resource. But it was free. Conversely, I paid $37 for the Traffic Manifesto. And of course was bummed since 80% or better was covered in the ABB.

Hate to piss on anyone’s picnic but if you want Web 2.0 traffic, go get yourself the ABB. Free is better.

Oh yea, another annoyance. There are upsells when you purchase TM. Videos and such. Eff that.

I have been following Ross Goldberg’s trajectory to gurudom and found that he is nothing but a conman. He is extremely good at repackaging common knowledge and passing it off as ‘cutting edge’.

Internet marketing is filled with scums like Goldberg who has no qualms in ripping people off.

Splork, did you see Rich Schefren’s petition? I’m wondering what you think about it all…

Yea I saw it. Eh, it has to be self-serving in some way.Not sure what the angle is but you can bet there is one.

2007 is definitely a year for memberships. Most of the IM heavy-hitters went for that business model.

I wonder what will be their next business model in 2008.

For sure AFG. They’ve flogged everything else into the ground. I too wonder what will be the must have money maker for 2008.

Have ya’ll seen StomperNet’s new offering? Looks like they are going 2.0. Anyway I thought the video the Andy Jenkins did was pretty slick. I’m not certain if the “free” content was all that great as I just can’t sit through 20 minutes of video, but I still thought it looked kinda cool for an IM presentation. His video editing background certainly helps I suppose.

Yeah, this product is junk. I’m sure Ross makes his money peddling this crap and can get no real traffic to a real web site. These dam con artist should be turned in to the FTC.

BTW, another excellent resource is Social Media Daily. Another free Web 2.0 blueprint.

The Traffic Manifesto wasn’t written for someone who understands social media, but someone looking for a total solution. It covers far more than “web 2.0″.

Before ever reading your review, I decided that it needed a better update, so I went back to the drawing board and rewrote it.

If any of you would like to see it again, shoot me an e-mail and I’d be happy to send you the new version to review.

    Thanks,
    Ross Goldberg
