As you guys know I have been flogging Article Marketing Automation for the last few weeks. It is indeed the shit. I build blogs and people populate it with articles. I write articles and it get distributed to blogs in the portfolio. Win-win. Best way I’ve seen to make money online in quite some time. I just wonder what people are thinking in this little enterprise.
I’ve found that I needed, or wanted, to go back through my blogs and look at the articles posted and make sure they were relevant, or add a link in the link field in Blogger or add tags to the posts in Blogger blogs. Little things to make the blog more SE friendly. Anyway, I’d check out the links people are using and wonder WTF? Have we learned nothing about anchor links? Seems no one is doing any meaningful keyword research. The keyword targeting is so bad in some articles that I will remove their post title and add my own to target my own keyword for the post. No, I never eff with the links.
What I’m seeing is some very well written posts. Most are utilizing the spinner functionality as well. I know this as I have numerous blogs set up now to target the same topic. I see the same article roll through but written differently. That rocks. But they are wasting their time.
If you read the forums in PLRPro there are discussions about post length and post content. People are so wrapped up in the importance of what they are writing. I would prefer some long keyword stuffed piece of crap get posted on my blogs than some well-written tome that has no keyword juice for the search engines. Sadly, like Griz has written on his blog, these folks are not Internet Marketers. Here is an outstanding quote from Griz’s Credit Cards Make Money Online post:
Internet marketers target niches that make money for them. They don’t target niches that attract bloggers. They don’t use social media. They don’t post comments on social sites. They don’t chat on forums. They don’t write for readers. They build sites that target specific terms and then they spend all their time gathering backlinks in order to rank number 1 on Google.
I’ve stopped writing for readers. Sure I write decent stuff for distribution on these blogs simply because the owners don’t know enough that content means nothing. They still believe that people want to read the crap we are writing on these niche blogs. If people are reading they aren’t clicking. I’ve created the most basic, ugly blogs to add to this portfolio at AMA. If you visit there is nothing left to do but click an ad.
Also AMA is a business, and as such the owners have to keep the quality high. Even though the most important thing is keywords and anchor text, they can’t suggest people submit utter crap. This I understand though technically I guess I could submit what I wanted since it’s up to the blog owners to review the posts on their blogs. Good content will stand a much better chance of getting added to owner’s blogs. Though on other blogs I freely use Blog Content Wizard to generate content. It doesn’t seem to matter to my SE listings. So yea, I’ll create BCW posts with a helping handful of link luv posting to a blog with nothing but Ebay and/or Adsense clicks. I’ll then use AWA to get backlinks to that garbage site. Sweet.
Yea, I put ads on my AMA blogs in the event that they get ranked in the search engines. Maybe they will get a click and then I hope they will click my ad. But the blogs are really built for the backlinks. I’m providing numerous opportunities for well written anchor links. Not for the brilliant prose. Again nobody is going to read this crapola.
I bet if you looked at your webstats you would see that typically the most visitors come during the work day. At any given time I would bet that 75% of people surfing the web are bored. People at work are bored. They are simply clicking around. They don’t have the interest or time to read 400 words of niche spew. They browse and click to the next thing that catches their eye. Understand, if you are in this game to make money, your article should be relevant for search engines. If you want to write articles for humans go create a social site and blog.
Frankly I’m glad people don’t get this. When they anchor their name instead of “yoga exercises”, my 58 backlinks, and counting, will be there to soak up the Google juice.
There was a conversation on the board about post length. AMA requires 300 words. People were spazzing because some posts got submitted with 100 words. Some believe that Google sees anything less than 100 words as spam. First of all, I would question what kind of blog was added to the system. No way I would add a blog that I cared about to something like AMA. Somebody complained that a post wasn’t family friendly and they had to delete it. Really? You can post whatever you want on my blogs. I’ve created numerous sites from free blogs and hosts all over. If they get flagged for anything, big deal. If AMA gets magically penalized by Google, so what. I’d like them to make the occasional penny but that really isn’t what they are for. Just enjoy the backlinks.
Secondly, I’ve got 5 blogs on WordPress.com with PR3-4 that I’ve never once written more than 50-100 words for. WordPress.com is anal supreme about spam and they have never once suspended one of those blogs. Google still ranks every post for a long tail keyword that I target. But I’ve had a few niche blogs with over 400 words of niche bullshit content per post suspended. Seems they don’t care much for PLR article content at WordPress.com. That says a lot to me right there.
The one thing about AMA that I will mention is that there seems to be far more people building blogs than are writing content. I don’t know this for sure but I would bet this to be the case. That’s fine as long as people build blogs for topics other than acne and weight loss and on platforms other than Blogger. I myself have blogs for acne and weight loss and they get far more articles than those for, say, home improvement. Articles I’ve written for fashion (Don’t laugh, a shoe blog targeting a specific niche earns decent CJ commissions) are distributed far less than weight loss. Diversity will benefit all.
Another long winded post. Simply put, people are still far too uptight about what they are writing and posting. They still think of themselves as bloggers trying to Internet Market, not as a marketers using blogs to make money. And I don’t know how or why but tons of folks still do not understand a simple concept like anchor text links. A lot of people are wasting time and money on AMA.

Yeah, I’ve noticed quite a few clueless entries. One didn’t have any links in it at all.
Quite a few have had no real keyword focus at all, though the links were better about that.
Are the blogs that you are using for this support sites rather than your money makers? Do others on the network see your blogs – presumably those whose articles you accept can see where the backlink comes from and trace you that way. I am just trying to work out how visible I am making my network signing up for this ? Thanks Lis
The blogs I added to the portfolio are mostly brand new blogs I built specifically for this system. I do have a few of my money blogs in there. Wherever I can get decent content that I don’t have to write…
Nobody sees my blogs until they start checking their backlinks to see where the articles they wrote are posted. I really don’t care who sees them.
If you have your own network just leave it out. Or put a couple sites in there. You don’t have to link them. Use the system to distribute articles and build blogs to host articles and make a little money. There are plenty of free hosting and free blogs you can use to drop in the portfolio without ever touching any of your own blogs.
Hi Splork,
Just wanted to let you know that I recently joined AMA based upon your recommendation – (I hope you got the affiliate commission).
So far, I’m quite impressed with it! The quality of articles is really very good – much better than any PLR or even paid article writing I’ve come across.
You’re right about the text links, but who cares? I just make sure the key word is in the first paragraph and in the title. I add some adsense (or maybe a relevant affiliate link or banner). I also add a photo (with a keyword alt tag)and viola!
My problem has been keeping up with it. I don’t necessarily want a post every day, but I don’t see other options. I’m an anal person, so I want to approve every post – but with too many sites, that could get cumbersome.
Okay, to wrap up this too-long comment, I recently sold one of my old websites that wasn’t doing much for a very nice chunk of cash. I had no idea it was worth that much.
So, now I’m resurrecting some of my other old sites and I’m using AMA to give them some quality content.
Thanks so much for recommending it!
GiGi
Thanks GiGi and I’m glad you like it. I too am digging it.
I know what you mean about the articles but except for those blogs you really care about…let it go. Just build some more. I have a a bunch now in the system and it’s just too much to go back through all of them.
I fully monetize all of them too. Though the majority I haven’t dropped Adsense on unless they are some I’ve aged previously. And that is a great idea about getting content and selling them.
Funny thing is I’m starting to get comments, real comments, on a few of the blogs I’ve built on free blog host sites. It just continues to feed itself without me doing a thing.
I’ve been adding 3-5 blogs a day to the system and writing at least one article to distribute. I need to write more.
Its a cool, cool product splork – Ive signed up so u should have the commission on it! The quality of content is fantastic – obviously more available in some niches than others. I notice a bunch of posts and then nothing for hours: is that normal ?
The spinner is cool too. Thanks for the rec
Thanks lissie. Yea AMA is awesome. And I don’t say that lightly.
I’m not sure how they set the posting schedule. I typically have less than 5 articles max posted and for some topics I get them pretty quick and others might drip in a bit later.
I think as the service continues to grow we will see more and more diversity of articles and I have blogs, and am creating blogs to collect all of them.
great post Splork, I am gonna check AMA out, sounds like it is strangey dual purpose – content recipient to monetise unloved blogs, and backlink builder for your main sites.
