For those keeping count of all the potholes I slam into on my travels to Internet greatness and wealth, let me give you an update of the damage and what I plan on doing to get myself back on the road again.
First off, I got rid of another round of newsletters and removed myself from email lists that do nothing but cause me to waste time and/or money. I dropped out of a couple of memberships to save time and money. I don’t need the stress of being in an expensive membership and not being able to cover the costs in a reasonable amount of time. Some say that’s motivating. To me it makes the experience less than enjoyable.
Second, I plan on getting myself back on track and interested in this business again by making full use of University 20/20. I allowed myself to get side-tracked from my lessons which was a huge mistake. Going “back to school” will be the break I need and will give me the knowledge I need.
I decided I needed the organization from one place. I love PLRPro. I love Affilorama. I thought Portalfeeder was great. They all are educators in one form or another. It’s just too much. I am swamped with “how-to’s”. If you follow one method you’ll probably do fine. I can’t seem to just concentrate on one thing. I’m going to have to force myself into this mode of thinking by taking the classes, and sticking to the damn schedule. University 20/20 is what I have chosen for this. It will also lay the foundation for being more productive with the offerings of PLRPro and Affilorama.
For those wondering, PLRPro and nichebot are the only memberships that I currently have. I bought the cheap(er) earlybird membership of PLRPro at $47 (I think) and NB costs me a whopping $10/month. I bought the lifetime membership when it was available at Affilorama. I’m in a budget crunch right now, but I used to spend around $50-100 extra a month for miscellanous ebooks or other content. I hope to stop that crap cold. Not sure why I mention this other than to say I am simplifying everything. And this means not buying stuff I don’t need too.
I have a couple of blogs, Lost Ball included, that I will continue to write. Lost Ball probably won’t have many product reviews in the near future as I can’t think of anything I should/need to buy. I simply just need to learn how to build websites I care about and write content I care about as well. Pretty simple. I’m just too bored to keep doing it.
Eh, we’ll see how long these repairs can keep me on the road.

I have no clue about most of the products you talk about on this blog anyway. I’m not subscribed to any email lists apart from nichebot, Allan Gardyne and Michael Campbell (and I’m getting quite bored of them).
It’s only recently that I’ve started to subscribe via RSS to the likes of dosh dosh and copyblogger.
All I know is that there seems to be a lot of blogs making money by writing reviews. I’m sure you could do very well doing those as long as you write in the same style as you have been.
My plan of action at the mo’ is commenting on lots of blogs which have the ” do follow” plugin installed so that I can build up a PR and then sell links and reviews.
That’s the theory anyway.

Can’t decide how I feel about getting paid to review something. I can hear most people saying that the review is irrelevant because I got paid to write it. I’ve read quite a few bloggers who have gotten a lot of crap for it. I’m sure my integrity would come in to question. Not sure if I care one way or another because if the product sucked, I’d say so. I think the problem is if the product was good nobody would believe it because they would think you were paid to say so.
I just haven’t made up my mind.

Do keep us updated how you do. I have the same problem myself - constantly flitting from one thing to another. Someone once told me I probably had some ADHD problems. Thanks! Now I have a name for it anyway.
As you know, I too am in University 2020, but am getting stuck at the article writing part. I think I’ll farm some of it out and see how that goes.

Really enjoy reading your musings/observations as they mirror so much of what many of us are experiencing - too much crap in the inbox, too many persuasive sales letters, too many monthly subs, lack of focus etc.
I also need to get back to Uni 20/20 - hit a wall in lesson 4 at the thought of going through all those eBay categories to assess profitability, but I suppose that’s where one learns some discipline and focus. Keep up the posts please - enjoy them more than any other of the RSS feeds I get.

Hey Splork, I think you speak to the everyman/woman in the IM game. Too much crap, too many distractions. It’s a challenge to stay focused and you mirror our sentiments. Keep up the posts, it’s the most honest blog in the industry.

Thanks for saying so Imgiver. Gotta get focused and on track. The guberus are certainly focused on taking my money. No reason they should have all the fun.

I agree with April, you could make good money writing reviews.
At this point blogging is a chore for me and it’s all I can do to write a few paragraphs. You on the other hand, can write and have no trouble going into detail or expressing your true thoughts.
I’ve thought from the first time I stumbled onto your blog, that you will be in the big leagues before long.

Hey Splork, I haven’t visited this blog in awhile, but I bookmarked it a long time ago. You gave some good & honest reviews…can’t remember the products. So many products out there….
Anyway, you seem like “a natural” writer, blogger and I feel you have integrity. Like Tom says above, blogging is a chore for me as well. Don’t underestimate it the value in having the ability to blog, it isn’t easy for a lot of us.
Keep up the good work!
