For whatever reason I decided to spend $15. I got an email from some online joker that was talking up The Conduit Method from The Lazy Marketer guy. I bought Confessions of a Lazy Marketer a year or so ago and though it made little impression on me (Obviously. I’m not rich or successful.), I decided to see what this Conduit Method was since I am basically stupid.
The Conduit Method is simply selling an affiliate product. You’ve all seen those pseudo review sites where a product is presented and made up or actual reviews, if available, are added to give the offering gravitas. If the website is done well it offers a little bit of good information before passing you on to the site to purchase the item. More times than not the affiliate page is nothing more than a traffic capturing middleman. Either way, money can be made.
I was thinking when I purchased the Conduit Method it would give me some ideas on page layout or some meat on how to build these little mini-pages. It did neither. If you’ve never considered building a product review site or never built a site around one product then the best this report is going to do is introduce you to the concept.
The thing is that there is not much to building these sites. So it stands to reason there is not much to this report. It is only 13 pages long. The first 2 pages is a title and legal crap. Pages 3-8 is a background on why you should be using the method. Page 9-10 is “The Method”. Page 11-12 is “technical”. Page 13 is the closing and opportunity to sale the report.
There is nothing to it. The tips in the report are very basic. The Method is 6 bullet items like “choose a niche with a lot of products”. The technical information includes such gems like how to choose a domain name. Of course since you have to build the site, they offer a feature rich package of templates and more ebooks for $30.
Save your money and go to Affilorama. There is a lesson in there called “Writing Product Reviews“. It will tell you everything you need to know about creating these type of sites. And then when you create the site promote the crap out of it.
So why was I interested in this in the first place? I am making some sales with my WPDFI sites. One in particular. The affiliate manager for this program sends out weekly best selling items. The thought was that I could use the best seller as the “Top Product” and other products in the inventory as additional products to compare to. The site has good product listings I can crib from and also customer reviews I can use. So I figured I could make one of these “Conduit Method” sites or product review affiliate sites and pull customers in looking for that item in the search engines. I built a 5 page site template last night with XSitePro and hope to get a few of these posted up in the next few days.
Anyway, I was hoping the Conduit Method would give me some better ideas or motivation or something. But it didn’t. All it did was make me realize that Affilorama is an awesome free resource and it’s time to dig back through that site when I need help.

Thanks for saving my bacon…. I was very close to buying that.

What’s up Splork,
If I’m not mistaken I picked up the Conduit Method report for free in some paid Warrior sub-Forum and thought the same thing…
The funny thing is that warriors are all over that report in that forum. Like they’ve never seen or heard of a review site before…

Hey Dan, yea I read tons of comments on his blog like it was the greatest thing around. Cue eye rolling.

Thanks for the heads up. It’s good to see there is another watchdog out there. I’m about to finish a post on Vince James - and Russell Brunson. I’ll let you know when I’m done.

Um, at the risk of sounding like a Warriorforum whore (And no, I’m not a member there - I just go there for occasional entertainment) I think the Conduit report is very good. It’s not just about creating a regular review site. it’s about creating a certain type of “non-review review site” - much less writing is required.
Actually you don’t do any writing for it. This can be a great cheat for non native English speakers or just those of us who (despite having a useless journalism degree) are sick to crap of writing articles.
Is there anything earthshattering in the report? I guess it depends on whether you appreciate clarity or not. I like Chris’ stuff because his reports get right to the meat and avoid the fluff like telling you for ten pages to ‘find a product on Clickbank to promote” yada yada.
He’s more interested in time saving and leveraging other people’ s efforts - very cool.
Anyway on my case studies site I’m tracking my earnings from my conduit method sites and they are doing really well. Keep in mind the content on these sites is next to nothing so you will have to put more muscle into your backlinking and traffic building strategies - organic traffic won’t bring you a helluva lot of results unless you push it a bit.
That’s my two cents, anyway. Splork, wish you the best with your new conduit sites - these suckers can really perform so keep at it.

Hey Dan. No, I respect your opinion and actually dropped by your site and checked it out before I made the decision to buy it. You have some good information. Your free ebook was every bit as helpful, even more so, than the CM.
Good luck with your sites. I definitely see the value in these little mini sites. I just didn’t care much for the report as it didn’t shed new light into the idea. At least for me.
Thanks for reading.

Hi Splork,
Cool man, thanks for dropping by the site.
If you do have some good results (or bad ones) please keep us posted here because I’d love to see how you’re doing. I’m not sure if the success has more to do with the niches you go after? I dunno, maybe some niches are simply duds.
Best
Dan

Conduit is more of an approach then a technique. The idea is to capture buyers who are in the middle of the decision-making process and throw facts at them. It’s different from a typical review site, as typical ones resemble more of a pre-selling approach.
It works for me. They don’t convert extremely well, but they convert, and they are very easy to market.
I guess that part of the attraction for me is that I don’t feel like I’m selling something. The other part is that they’re pretty quick to put together. Not 45 minute StoreStacker quick, but a day per site is doable.

Hello People,
i have been impressed by your reviews and comments.
It is a surprise to see that mr. Dan is already doing what i am willing to do: playing music on weeekends and making decent money with websites. I am wondering if the CM could work to me also, because i am non-native english, so i’d need some little help to starting correctly.
Thanks,
Nicola

Thanks for reading Nicola. I’m not sure the CM is a great place to start. I wasn’t overly impressed with it, which actually means nothing, but I think there may be other resources you could use that could help you with your goals.

Hi Splork,
thanks for your message and for you suggestions.
I am wondering which one could be a better place to start with, expecially for a non-english native.
Do you think CM could not be applied on my-own language websites?
Splork // Nov 21, 2008 at 1:12 pm
I think it definitely could. If you get it make sure you get a refund if it’s not to your liking. I’m just not 100% sure you are going to get much out of it. If you are just starting out it might be worthwhile…
If you have $297 I think maybe you want to check out AffiloBlueprint from Affilorama. Mark just released this training. It’s pricey but it has potential to be very good. For someone new it might just be the answer. Again 60 day money back guarantee. Use it if it doesn’t work for you.

Thanks Splork,
Affilorama training sounds very good, but it is a bit pricey to me right now… i am looking for something cheaper, and that’s why i was exploring the Conduit Method…. have you ever heard of 5 Bucks a Day package?
Franck Silvestre // Nov 22, 2008 at 1:31 pm
I second Splork on this. I have the Affiloblueprint course, and it’s excellent.
Nichola, you are not obliged to buy the Affiloblueprint.
The affilorama course will get on you on the right track. It’s 100% free to join.
