Even More on Affiliate Elite

November 7th, 2007 · 6 Comments

I know I said I have nothing bad to say about Affiliate Elite. And really, I don’t. It’s a nice program. Engineered proper. Blah, blah, blah. What has me bent though is the marketing of this thing. I have to call bullshit when I see it. And I saw it in my email. Like, all day. One of the most retarded is by the Callen bros themselves:

Affiliate Elite

At 11:24 Brad sends out a ‘buy now because there are only 152 copies left’ email. Bullshit on that, as there are plenty copies available, just maybe not at $150. Then almost 40 minutes later Matt sends out an email saying, “there are only a few copies left”. That’s right. A FEW. And not only that it won’t be available ever again. What he doesn’t talk to his brother? Doesn’t read the press? Think each copy is hand made by day laborers in the Philippines?

Read Matt’s email closely and he says at the time he sent it out that there are actually 150 copies available. Call me an ass but I equate a few to 3-4. Not 150. Just more bullshit sensationalism in email headers to get you hurry up and act. Make you think the train is getting away from you. So the price goes up later today. Bummer.

And wonder why the guberus didn’t talk about the$39 monthly hit in service fees? That sucks. Deal breaker for me at this time.

The product may be fine but once again the salemen have totally added a nice layer of dung right across the proceedings.

If nothing else I want everyone who is new to Internet Marketing to not, not, not, believe all this crap you read. These salesmen are professionals. They are baaaad-ass. They know the right buzzwords to use. They know how to manipulate you into thinking their product is something you can’t live without. Buy only what you need. Not what is presented to you because you were naive enough to opt-in to some shitty newsletter from these guys. We’ve all been there. I’ve bought just as much garbage as the next guy. You don’t have to.

How can there be x number of copies left? Is he gonna stop producing them (control-C, Control-V-paste; create new software)—it’s not like he’s building something with nails and hammer.

I respect this guy in creating quality and useful software, but how he’s marketing this thing is just like those shameful so-called gurus. It’s gone to his head…maybe he’s been in orbit around the gurus and he’s gravitating towards their tactics. It’s a shame really. If you have a great product you don’t need to resort to this b.s.

I have to admit I didn’t see all the videos - didn’t have the time. But from my understanding, the software does two things:

    1) Find out what affiliates are promoting a product

At least for clickbank, you can really just search for the hoplink in google and you’ll come up with a whole list of people promoting the product. For example for Fat loss 4 Idiots, just search for 4idiots.hop.clickbank.net. It comes up with ~20 K affiliates promoting it.

    2) Find out what keywords affiliates using PPC are using

For those who really want to do this, Adspy Pro does this for much cheaper and without the monthly fee.

I’m sure Affiliate Elite puts this information together somehow but I don’t see how it could be justified by the price + the monthly fee.

That’s pretty much what I thought Rabs. I have AdSpyPro and realize I’m getting some pretty good info. AE’s cost didn’t justify what I would use it for at this point.

Hey, I received these two emails as well, but I deleted them right away… too busy working on my project right now.

I am RE-organizing all my biz. Only a few sites, and I’m overwhelmed… Oops! I forgot to say that two months vacations let me behind in my project.

    All the best Splork.
    Franck.

Well you made me laugh with your comment about if everyone is spying on everyone else, who is going to be doing the real work of creating something original that works.

I got off the PPC/affiliate wagon with only one small exception a few months ago. Now I’m doing a combination of my own products and blog post and squidoo promotions. I think this week I finally made more than I spent. Woo hoo!!!

I also am sick of the pressure to buy now campaign. The gurus not only do it, but they also teach in their ebooks and courses that this is what you should do. I mean if they had a great product, you’d want to buy it RIGHT THEN because you’d want to get started earning money right away. An occasional sale for a particular period of time, or a low introductory offer, I can believe. But that 200, crossed out 89, crossed out 37 copies left. Gimme a break!

    Hey Splork,

Having beta tested Affiliate Elite before it launched I am suprised there is not a higher monthly fee.

It actually access some pretty nifty api’s to gather the data it does and I’ll be stuffed if I know how Brad even got it so cheap to be able to offer it for $37 a month with no limit to searches using that feature.

I asked him how but he got the api transactions to be available at that price, he wouldnt even tell me :(

    Regards
    Marc
