A Rehash of My Blogging Disposition

December 11th, 2008 · 3 Comments

Sometimes I wish I didn’t blog the way I do. I like trying out new things. Some work out. Some don’t. Unlike most people in this business that only talk about their successes and none of their failures, I do both and am quite transparent about it. If all I blogged about was the money I’ve made creating XSP sites from PLRPro articles then folks would think that I was golden. I try all kinds of things because it keeps me interested and maybe, just maybe, I’ll find something else I like to do.

People write in all the time with the best intentions in the world. Trying to help. “Why don’t you focus here”. “Concentrate efforts there”. I’m a cynical and negative bastard and my writing reflects that disposition. I’m a hard worker and have a lot of energy and motivation when I make up my mind to do something. I just get tired of this business and have to regroup. It sounds stupid but my cycle is to work hard, get burnt out, buy something in the effort to help me do something faster, easier or better, realize the product invariably sucks and then go straight back to doing what I was doing before. Which is what I’ve done for the past three years, write and re-write articles, build XSP sites and blogs, and try to get traffic to the sites. No tactics, blueprints, ebooks, guides, tips or anything else I’ve read or tried has provided me with much more information than what I already know to do. But I like to try. I like to check things out.

There are tools in my arsenal that make things easier. They are all in the page of tools I use. PLRPro for articles, XSP for site building. I use Nichebot for keyword research. I use BMD. These tools I use everyday if I’m in niche site building mode. (I’m experimenting with PLRPro’s Project Green Button and it’s looking very promising. It can take the place of XSP and BMD. I’m just used to those two right now.) If I’m building Ebay/Blogger sites then I use Blog Content Wizard. Sometimes I use Link Luv or Video Utility poster or OrwellPro to add content to my blogs. blah, blah, blah.

The point is, yes I try out new things. I’m certainly not the only one. Yes, the best thing to do is find what works and pound the shit out of it. Over and over. But it gets boring. I come on this blog and whine about it, take a break for a couple of weeks from my burn out and go right back to writing articles, building niche sites and getting links.

Blogging about my experiences is cathartic in a way. It helps me work out the problems. It helps me refocus. This is a long, slow and boring business. If you do it all yourself you know what I mean. You have no one to help, you write all the articles because it’s too expensive to outsource right now. You spend time building your site. You spend time getting backlinks. You keep cycling back to all the previous sites to keep them fresh, yet you are looking forward to try to build a new site. It’s rather insane. If you are a badass and can feed one authority site and make money with it then good for you. But it sucks for you if you find out your authority site doesn’t monetize that much. Hence the reason for diversification.

I don’t have any problem with people trying out new things. If you like Commission Blueprint despite me slagging it for the hype, then that’s fantastic. Good on you for trying something out for yourself. I’m simply telling you why I’m not buying that particular product at that particular time. If I buy it and it’s useful. I’ll say so. If I buy it and it sucks I’ll say so. I don’t care one way or the other if my experience prevents or encourages you to buy it. It’s my experience so you’ll have to decide yourself if a product ices your drink or not.

    heh interesting post.

I liken it to what games call “the grind” aka in World Of Warcraft you need to “grind” your experience until you get to level 70 (80 now)

Then you have this sick ass character that can whoop ass.

Some enjoy the grind, others hate it…. but eitherway there is always grind.

Still today we diversify…. though perhaps a little too much early on.

I’m like an add kid on crack when it comes to focus. So it fits my personality well to be trying new things.

Though those few authority sites really cant go wrong if you do it right…. by pure definition you cant go wrong…..

    Pick a macro industry…..

    dating
    vitamins
    health
    weight loss
    credit repair
    bankruptcy
    diplomas online
    blah blah blah

and build a site out until you have first page rankings and hundreds of content pages.

sure it takes years and even still can be a risky investment if you are really unlucky (googl de-index)

Hit it off though and your looking at 200 to 300k uniques a month and some nice coin

Right on man! I agree with the process, the mindset struggle and the touble with uncertainty. Not knowing whether what your doing is the best way to go about things is bitch. I wrote an artcle on the same idea, I make it sound more “positive”, cause thats how I roll. I just don’t blog when I feel like Im lost. Another method, doesn’t matter I guess, I appreciate your candor as do others I’m sure. I found your site via Griz’a site. If you would like to blogroll exchange let me know. I have a few blogs that would accept your best targets if your into that.
    Great blog!

You are right about how blogging about blogging is cathartic. I do the same on my blog. It helps me focus my ideas and thoughts, and puts them in a place where I can check in case I forget them in the future!

Our path is a somewhat lonely path with lots of grinding… and not the good kind.

I enjoy your blog though! Keep up the good work!
