I guess I have stirred up some curiosity over the datafeed sites. Thought I’d go ahead and show you what one of them looks like. Click here for datafeed site. Simple, eh?
Oh and BTW, the main site is simply postings of RSS feeds using RSS2B. Remember when they said you can’t make money doing that and to stop? I still make about .50 a day with Adsense on this site. It’s automatic. I do nothing to get the 50 cents. I keep thinking I should build more. Of course I could probably do better too, but I just don’t feel like messing with it.
I’ve always thought it funny how protective everybody is of their sites. Seems everywhere you go on the different forums people say they can’t post their site URL. Afraid someone will steal their brilliant idea on webpage building or something. Like there is anything new out there anyway. I mean, what exactly are you going to do to my site that I can’t let you see it? Steal my design? I use WP. Everything is borrowed. Steal my content? Who cares? I’ll write more. Plus I have first dibs. Use my idea? I’m not that creative. It wasn’t mine in the first place. Turn me in to Google to de-list my site? I’ll build another. Anyway, I’ll share.

Thanks splork,
The visual certainly helps, about rss2B I read on some forums about people getting shutdown by hostgator for using it, could you recommend a
host , I have two reseller accounts now. Do you use a dedicated server ? This would be the last piece of the puzzel for me and I think I’ll jump in to the blog pool!

I do not use a dedicated server. I use Lunarpages
and mediacatch. Like them both and never had a bit of trouble with either.

Thanks for having the courage to show your site. I’ll post mine once I get the feeds sorted out. Feeds are great if your merchant has plenty of content already written with good photos. In my case I need to dig around for photos and more description than just the title and console. (It’s video games)

It’s interesting to see that regular datafeed sites (thin affiliates according to Google) have long since stopped receiving any search engine love, but that the blog based sites are getting the traffic.
It seems that the search engines like the gradual growth of a blog, even if autogenerated, rather than suddenly finding 10,000 pages of duplicate content. Or did you add all pages at once and change the posting dates?

Hi Splork,
Sorry to be so thick but – the main site looks as though the items come from a datafeed; I see they all have order links with id numbers. Where is the RSS2Blog material (which also has ID links)? Or is there some way that RSS links to your datafeed that I just do not understand in my blissful newbie ignorance?
I managed to get a copy of the Teli software after reading your recommendation – hope the sale went through your aff link.
Cheers

Micah the software that I use allows you to post it on the schedule you want. So what I did was take 100 items from the datafeed and seed my blog. Then I took the rest of the datafeed and spread it out over 90-100 days. Depending on the size of the datafeed it would either post once a day or up to 4 times a day.

Deke that is the problem with alot of affiliate programs. Just not enough products to post. You might try Amazon and eBay for your video game site too. Nothing wrong with mixing things up I wouldn’t think.

Darrell, the main site, http://passionforscrapping.com has the RSS2Blog content.
The http://passionforscrapping.com/store only has the datafeed stuff.
You could mix it up posting news content, then posting a couple of items.

Hi Splork
Bit of a datafeed man myself. I was wondering on putting Adsense on my datafeed sites and then I saw you had it on yours.
Do you think it is a good idea to put Adsense on a datafeed site or will it dilute the affiliate sales?
Just wondered what your thoughts were on the subject…
Splork // Nov 29, 2006 at 1:52 pm
This scrapbooking site is the only one I put Adsense on. I don’t think it’s a particularly good idea.

Don’t know if anyone has read the vegas pubcon stuff on the mattcutts.com/blog, also read the other stuff on
http://www.10e20.com/2006/11/16/pubcon-interactive-site-reviews-and-serp-quality-control-forum/
For the compuplus site, Todd talks about the site using the manufacturers description: “We have this issue with a huge national chain. Start at the top and rewrite these – start with your best-sellers. If you change 500 you will increase.”
I think the rss2blog is a good idea, but if a bit of time was invested
it could be even better, especially if you have an “authority” site.
I plan on trying it out after I have paid for all my directory submissions and created my own authority site. It seems to be working, hopefully the yahoo directory listing I have on order will give the site a further boost.

Datafeed Sites – Profit Generating Sites Or Rubbish?…
…
Splork // Dec 10, 2006 at 4:09 am
Hey Marc. Nice post on the datafeed sites. Yea, there is no doubt I am leaving a ton of profits on the table by spamming with the blogs. Your method is no doubt sick but, yea, I am lazy. But I think there is a worthwhile method in what you have written. I’ll see what I can do with that as well.
