You can use Pivot for free. I used to run that blog platform until I jumped on the Fantastico WordPress bandwagon. No database. If I decided to host blogs again that would be what I’d use.

You might know about this already, but if you want to have a blog format without the database have you tried MyStarterBlog.com?

No databases regular type HTML type files – It think. I do know that there is no MySQL involved.

It is only 7 dollars as of this writing. I think it could get as high as 17 dollars at some point. They might be a special running now..

Anyway, just an afterthought..

I am probably going to get it..

You need to check into the Hostgator. In two years, never a problem except some “scheduled maintenance” downtime the other night..

I know a web designer from Canada who has a reseller account with them – and again – no problems.

If Hostgator does not float your boat, then take a look at Rackspace cloud hosting, West Host, Host Monster (I think Host Monster is owned by Hostgator), Pair Networks, Dreamhost, or Bluehost. Also, Nearlyfreespeech.net brags..

“For as little as $0.25, you can move your websites to NearlyFreeSpeech.NET, the original home of only pay for what you use hosting. See the proof for yourself.”

That might appeal to your cheap side (LOL!).
Anyway, if you have not thought of it already, then just go to Hostjury.com, Hostreview.com, Web Host Magazine, Webhostingtalk.com,
or http://news.netcraft.com/ (Netcraft)
for hosting reviews.

Netcraft has a list of hosts with the best uptime.

I know you have other needs besides uptime, but at least you have a place to start if you are still looking for hosts – or will be in the future..

Hey Splork, sorry to hear your hosting probs.

I’ve been setting up some blogs lately that are going to be resource hogs bigtime, but they’re on my reseller so I’m hoping to contain it. Just read the comment mentioning WP super-cache and glad I did – I’d forgotten all about it… I think now would be a good time to go and install it… thanks mate!
